Best website editing and forum software:

Just wondering what you guys use/recommend as far as software for building/designing websites as well as a good forum/messageboard software to use.

I'm currently using Frontpage for site creation and phpbb for my forum software. I HATE Frontpage and while I think phpbb is great for free software, it's very limited as far as its functionality.

The two I was thinking of upgrading to are:

- Dreamweaver

- Vbulletin

What to you folks think of these programs?

unless its worth the money to you, i'd stick with phpbb at least until you have enough users to justify the cost of vB. phhBB can be customized quite a bit, and I think they're working on a new version that should be out sometime this spring, too. For designing / building websites, Dreamweaver is awesome, but I'd stick with some canned templates you can find on the web and use a plain text editor. Just my $.02!

I'll second edmicman's suggestions. And as for the bb upgrading, unless you are severely limited by phpbb I'd suggest maybe learning some php and fixing your issues the old-fashioned way (and then giving it back to the community of course 🙂). It'd be a good way to do some learning and may give you some ideas for the rest of your site.
