Best ways to push mp3's to home stereo

My buddy has his PC in 1 room, but wants to play his Mp3's (that are ALL on his hard drive) on his Home Theater in another room.

What is the best way to accomplish this? Aside from building another PC and putting it in the same room, was thinking some type of wireless trans/receiver. He has some $$$ so I am looking for the best solution, or at least a real good one, not the cheapest.

Thanks.

Damn John, that's pretty cool :wine:, have to look into that 😉...Another solution is to burn them on a DVD (4.7Gigs of MP3's go a long way), then play them on the Player with his Home Theater. That way the DVDRW can be used for other things as well on his PC.

Here is a little budget tip:

A wireless video transceiver kit. Wait a minute you say, we're talking audio and not video... WEEEEELLLL a SPDIF audio stream coming from a RCA jack has comparable voltage and bandwidth charecteristics to a analogue video signal. Hook the transmitter to the sound cards SPDIF out and the receiver to the receivers SPDIF in and presto! The only downside is that there is no control of the music in the HT room.

If you are feeling geeky, and have a PDA with wireless LAN or Bluetooth you could control the PC from that (range allowing). There is a software that will show Winamp/WMP playlists, time, controls etc on the PDA display, can't remember the name though. There is similar software that runs on Nokia smartphones and uses bluetooth for remote controlling media aps in windows.

i think your thinking of VNC, i use it on my laptop to control desktop and vice versa. I think they have it for PDA's also

not vnc but a true Media control app, specially designed for running on PDAs. There are Pocket PC and Palm versions of that software and I am trying to find a link!!
