Best way to use SSD upgrade

Hi,

I'm currently running an Intel X25-M 160GB SSD on my i7-950, used mainly for Lightroom and Photoshop (with all the photos on a separate 1.5TB hard drive). To speed things up I've just bought a new Crucial 512GB m4 SSD.

So should I:

- keep the Windows 7 installation and applications on the old SSD, and use the new SSD for current photos and other frequently accessed data?
- move the Windows 7 installation and applications from the old SSD to the new SSD, keep current photos on the new SSD and use the old SSD for scratch?
- any other options?

thoughts very much appreciated!

Have you considered selling the X25 and just putting everything on the Crucial (it's big)? Then you can archive certain things (e.g., work older than 1 year) onto the hard drive.

Using the old Intel for the system drive at 160GB would be sort of a waste... although it's paid for. My thought is... if everything will fit on the new SSD, put it there... that's what I just did with my new 840Pro 256GB. Yes, it's sort of a waste to put my pictures and music on it, but it's all on a single drive and it's easy to backup or reimage.

Being the backup nerd I am, maybe reload your OS and programs on the new drive, clone it to the 160GB drive, and have that for an instant backup of your base system.
