Best way to upgrade Vista?

Whats the easiest way to upgrade? Do you have to order another disc? Or if you already have Vista Home Premium full version, can you download vista ultimate 32/64 from Microsoft?

Only things I've found is I need some Anytime Upgrade cd from MS, and pay 159.99 for them to send me a new dvd.

I'm running full version of Home Premium 32 right now, thinking of running Ultimate 64.

If you already have Ultimate, just install on top. If you don't, that 'Anytime upgrade' is basically an Ultimate upgrade disk, so but that then do the install on top.

Any real reason you want Ultimate? Home Premium has all the same features that an average home user will use in Ultimate.

CompletePC backup is a nice Ultimate feature (but your right, most other features are well covered by Home Preimum)

The anytime upgrade disk (AFAIK) won't allow the 32 to 64 bit reinstall. In your case, your best I think is to but an ultimate upgrade then do the clean install (twice) trick.

Yeah! It is Texas Hold 'Em. Ultimate is also better on network stuff if you are LAN connected or hope to be.

joining domains i would suppose...

bitlocker is what i would like to have. i did just fine TrueCrypt though. it seems nice, but i did just encrypted 20GB of collected data from the past 3 years last night, only to find this morning that the entire partition wasnt readable! 🙁 i didnt dismount the drive before unplugging it, so it was my fault. that was a big loss, but im still using the truecrypt program. it works great if you know how to use it.

are you saying there is a work-around?

That is correct, but you don't need ultimate for that, the business editions are more appropriate. Moreover I was originally responding to Corkyg's [post and I'd like to hear what he was refering to with your guesses.
