Best way to unlock Athlon XP Palomino

I want to try unlocking my 1700+ Athlon XP Palomino. I am aware that there are many methods to do this and I wanted to know what ways might be the easiest and safest to do this. If you could please post a link or show me the method of your choice, please do so.

Any other do it yourself instructions that might not require buying a whole kit? I would like to spend as little money as possible. Plus I want to make sure that I only need to connect the L1 bridges.

Also, will filling in the L1 bridges allow me to use any multiplier, or will I be limited to a set maximum multiplier?

Super glue to fill the gaps, defroster sauce to connect the L1's. That's the cheapest route besides the unlocking kit. You should be able to use all multipliers supported in your motherboard bios.
