Hola! VPN, it's a little plugin for your browser which let's you choose which country a site (like youtube) would think your PC is located at.
It does do some pop up(ing) whenever there is video on a page, but it is pretty easy to disable and enable plugins in a browser so you can shut it down whenever you don't need it.

Legality is a funny thing, making a page work in any way that it isn't intended to work in can never be considered completely legal, but running an vpn is not illegal.

I did some research on Hola! and decided it was unsafe. Anything else to use ?

They haven't even replied to any of my emails yet Hola!

I use a proxy when I want this kind of stuff. Proxynova and Xroxy are two sites with pretty reliable proxy lists. VPNs are a bit iffy, I think. Proxies are much more confined to web browsing, and Firefox has a proper options panel as well, which makes it easier to use them.

I do know that proxies won't work for some pages, don't know if youtube is one of those.

As for the legality of it, if you think the law is dictated by those who make websites, then it's illegal. If you think the law is dictated by the powers that be, then it's legal.
Simple.

I never trust free proxies.

That said, I have, in the past, made the mistake of accessing encrypted (HTTPS) pages with private information while using free proxies, and I have never suffered for it. I avoid it at all costs, however.

As a general rule, I use the proxy ONLY when and where I need them, and disable them as soon as I don't need them.

As for using them, a proxy is nothing more than an IP address and a door number. In Firefox, you go into Options > Advanced > Network > Settings..., select "Manual proxy configuration", tick the "use this proxy server for all protocols" checkbox and put in the IP address (123.45.67.890, for example, it's a number like this) and the door number (8080 or something) and click OK.

Then you test the connection. Often times free proxies will not work as intended and you'll need to test another one.

Unfortunately, it's not a one click job and it may require patience. Such as the woes we must suffer through in the name of information....

I think I found a more trusting service to unblock videos. DNS changer service so I can view the video.

That or a VPN maybe.

I wish I could find something that would only come on when I need it then go back off.

Eh? You can change DNS to whatever, it has *nothing* to do with if you can watch the video or not.
The only way is a proxy/VPN of some kind.
