Best way to transfer data between two computers

I was thinking of using an old version of laplink but both PC's have ethernet cards. One has Win 2k and the other is win98. Any ideas? Basically they are audio and video files i want to transfer. Between 3 and 30 megs.

Get a crossover cable and connect 'em. Make sure both machines have the same workgroup, and enable the guest account. Share the files, and transfer away.

Even easier (especially if it is a one time move), is to use a ZIP drive or CDRW if you have access to one.
