Best way to test suspected bad RAM?

I have a MSI K8T NEO2-FIR motherboard and I'm using this Geil RAM. I'm beginning to suspect one or both of my sticks of RAM is bad. I've had strange errors trying to install UT2K4, which some people have suggested might be related to bad RAM, and I get strange crashes every once in a while that reference memory addresses (I'm a bit out of my element with this, so I haven't really understood the error messages.)

What's the best way to figure out for certain if one or both of my sticks of RAM is/are defective? I've got memtest86, and I gather the best thing to do is run it with one stick in the machine, and then with another. But how do I read the results of memtest86? I've read that it's good to run memtest86 overnight, but if I start to get errors right away, does that mean the RAM is defective? Are there any other programs I should try that would perform a similar check?

And, if I determine that the RAM is defective, should I return it for two more sticks of the Geil RAM, or given my motherboard, am I going to have better luck with something else?

EDIT: So I just ran memtest86, first one stick of RAM, then on the other. The first generated numerous errors almost instaneously. The second has completed one pass and hasn't generated a single error yet (*crosses fingers*). Based on that, I guess it's safe to conclude the first stick is bad, and I should RMA it to Newegg, right?

I'd run memtest on the second one for several hours at least to verify that it is in fact good, but based on what you wrote, I would agree that the first one is most likely damaged.
