I have extremely thick dark brown hair. I'm going to need to dye it bright green on Halloween, but only for the one night. I need advice on what products to use and how to apply them. I've never done something like this.

I've been recommended Kool Aid or Jello.

Very old thread revived by noob.

Yes, Kool-aid, Jello, or some of that hair spray. Manic Panic doesn't wash out overnight, so I wouldn't recommend it.

You're either doing a thorough bleaching job first or it's not going to happen. Unless you want to shave your heard afterwards, the bleach won't be a one day thing, obviously.

I suggest a wig. Seriously.

Get one that says "permanant" on it. Don't worry though, it'll wash out.

Definitely look for the spray. Did it for last Halloween...my hair is also dark brown, but was short and spiked (gel used beforehand, just sprayed it with the green stuff after it dried just like spray paint). I used a lot, but it was BRIGHT "neon" green.

go for the colored gel..... it's not easy to get a uniform color all over your head with the spray.

whatever option you go for, remember to buy some real good conditioner.... you need it... lots of it.

i sincerely recommend you go with a wig...

with the color of hair you have , it is almost destructive to make it bright green. beside, you will probably not get the brightness you want if going with hair dye.

trust me on this.

I used to have green/red/blueish hair but since I naturally have black hair, I had to bleach it first otherwise no color will stand out. Dying on top of dark hair will result in nothing heh.

The kool-aid works if you have bleached or really light hair. Otherwise it gives you a kind of greenish highlight, if you can see any green at all. And then, beware of water (rain, apple bobbing, etc.) because it will drip all over the place.

Cheap & fun, though.

Use the spray stuff, practice first.

ICE Spiker Colorz (halfway down the page). There's 3 different kinds, but each one has a variety of green. I've used the blue, and metallic copper before (I have black hair). Works really well, washes out easily. You should be able to find it at a salon or something.
