Best way to tell the max amount of memory a system can hold?

Are you asking about a system in particular? And are you asking in terms of hardware or software?

Motherboard Manual. If you've misplaced it download a copy from their website. Their website may also have that info.

Well i purchased some dummy computers from a bank, old compaqs, and Im not sure what the system specs are exactly. I guess i can go onto the hp/compaq website and search around.

Do you have the model printed on the case anywhere? If not, you might find a model printed on the motherboard. Googling either one of those might bring up some relevant info.

I ended up doing a little searching on the Compaq site and was able to come up with my computer and model. I still haven't located the motherboard manual as of yet though, so hopefully a little more searching will locate something.
