Best Way to Sync Files?

I have a laptop and desktop at home that I routinely work from and will use the same file on them. I was wondering what is the best way to synchronize some files on both of them. Just my bookmarks files, some spreadsheets, etc. Also, can you synchronize your .pst file in outlook or would that corrupt it?

I've used some programs but they synchronize entire folders, I'd like to do it on a file level. Also, I would be synchronizing over my network.
