Best way to study?

What is the best way to study?

I study best by just listening. Reading things over and over just plain doesn't do anything for me.

Any tips?

I know we have a lot undergraduate students and grad students here, and even people getting their PHDs, so what did you do to ultimately gain success academically?

Thanks,
Trav

I'm jealous. I'm most definitely not an auditory learner and I can seem like a complete buffoon for that fact.

I've always copied down the professor's lecture as completely as I can, then gone home and puzzled over it, writing it out again and doing examples, until the idea firms up in my head. Writing things out seems to be the key for me in memorizing things.

I always just listened in class. Note down something important every now-and-again.

I rarely read the book or studied outside of class. Luckily I always had teachers that covered in class what was going to be on the tests.

Great this is just what I was looking for.

This is what I try to do but in classes like history I find it is best to write most of what he is saying down...

I have to learn by doing. If I read something I barely retain anything. What were we talking about again?
