Hi all,

We just recently moved into a 2 storied colonial house this year when in the past we lived in a condo community so I have no idea how to decorate it safely.

I hear things like "do not string more than 3 string of lights together" to make sure "those are connected to a separate junction boxes", etc...

what do you people do and how long of a ladder you need to attach the lights to the gutters on the second story?? also what hardware are needed like clips, extension wires and such.

Help and tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Second story is going to require a long ladder.

I use 'commercial grade' lights which allow 6 strings to be strung together. I attach it to the roof and gutter via hooks that pretty much every place sells. They are clear plastic and allow you to hook to a variety of things.

Use those plastic tie-ups whatever they are called. They are easy to put and easy to take out, don't use nails like I did my first xmas. Shouldn't the wife do this??? ... jk

I mounted hooks on the eves of our house to make it easy to put up the lights every year. It takes about 3 sets of lights to run across the lower front of our house. There's no way I'm risking my life hanging lights on the second story though.
