Best way to stream my own content via web.

Hello,

I need some help. I have just built a new file server and have converted all my DVD's and TV episodes over. What is the best and safest way to stream to my mobile devices when I'm not at home. I have an iPAD and Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and I would like to be able to get to my content where ever I go with these. At the most I would have maybe 3 connections streaming at once.

Originally someone pointed me to TVersity and myPlex. Are these the best apps to use for this setup, or is there a more "all in one" package? I am running Windows Server 2012 for the home server.

Thanks

What edition of server 2012?

This might help.

Edit: I don't know why the forum doesn't like the full URL, but there is some information in there about streaming to iPads specificaly.

I am using Windows Server 2012 standard edition. I was just reading up on IIS. Maybe I just need to setup some port forwarding and IIS?

I will give Orb Caster a look, but was hoping to avoid a paid service if possible.

I def. need something like TVersity. Also consider your internet upload speed at home. That could be a limiting factor to streaming, especially multiple streams.
tversity can re-encode on the fly (to lower resolution = less bandwith) video. Of course thats requires a good CPU.

Thanks Beginner99. Yeah I expect I will be the only one streaming 95% of the time. I have cable with 30mb down and 5mb up. I hope that I can get decent video from one stream at that speed.

So TVersity might be the best way to go?
