I agree with everyone who has suggested a lawyer. As far as how to dress, I'd say "business casual" at the least, which is to say slacks and a button-down shirt. In short, dress to show respect for the court, but don't go overboard because if you wear a suit the judge will know you're just trying to suck up. I wouldn't hold out too much hope though, because as you have found out before, the fine for being 100 mph or over is astronomical. Next time stick to 99 mph and under, your wallet will thank you. What I have found from other drivers and from police officers with whom I am friends is that in general you can exceed the speed limit by 5 mph for limits of 60 mph and below (inclusive), and by 10 mph for limits of 65 an above (inclusive). A guy I know in the Highway Patrol gave the following rule of thumb, "stop for 10 over, ticket for 12 over". Of course if the person is driving eratically, fails to use signals for changing lanes, or stays in the left lane when the right lane is empty, all bets are off because these activities draw attention to your car.

I thought the limit if you don't want to get stopped was 9MPH over the speed limit (or is it 9MPH if they are using radar or 4MPH if using other means). Works for me.

That depends on the state. I think PA has had an 6MPH leeway ever since they raised the limit to 65. It had been 9MPH or something when the limit was 55.

Here in GA they can't get you with radar unless you're doing more than 9 over. Of course they can get you for even 1 over if they pace you....pays to know what crown vic lights look like in your rear view.

<< 2nd 100mph + speeding ticket >>

If you're going to keep it up, you might want to look into keeping a lawyer on retainer...

"Fiddy: what are you trying to imply here? no i am not 12 years old.. actually I just turned 21"

I'm trying to make you feel foolish so you will think twice before speeding again.

Let me tell you a story that will change your mind.

A few years ago, I knew this guy named Bob who bought a Nissan 240ZX that had been modifiedto boost the performance. Well, Bob thought that this meant he should haul ass everywhere he went. Everytime I saw him on the road, he was driving fast. About a month later, I was coming home from work through the neighborhood and I came upon an accident in front of the neighborhood swimming pool.It had just happened seconds beforeI arrived atthis "T" shaped intersection on this little two lane country road. The exit from the pool was on the other side of the "T". Anyway, as I pull up and get out of my truck, I see Bob and meant he should haul ass everywhere he went. Everytime I saw him on the road, he was driving fast. About a month later, I was coming home from work through the neighborhood and I came upon an accident in front of the neighborhood swimming pool.It had just happened seconds before I arrived atthis "T" shaped intersection on this little two lane country road. The exit from the pool was on the other side of the "T". Anyway, as I pull up and get out of my truck, I see Bob and his totaled Nissan sitting in the middle of the road, he has a few bumps and scratches but for the most part he's ok. I look and see a blue Firebird out in this field of tall grass and you can hear these kids just crying their lungs out. By now, the EMS and Police have shown up and the Starflight helicopter is in the air. So what happened is Bob was racing down this road doing 80+ mph and hit these people when they pulled out of the pool parking. They couldn't see him because right before the exit is a low one lane bridge. When he hit the firebird, it spun around and threw everybody in the car out, none of them was wearing their seatbealts. The sad thing is, that one of the mothers bled to death in the field of tall grass. When she was flung from the car, her arm hit a street sign and was severed off. She bled to death in the grass because no one saw her until it was too late. I still remember hearing those kids screaming over the sound of the helicopter as it took off. Speed kills.

Bob is still in the can for that stupidity, the woman was related to an officerans he made sure that Bob paid his dues.

So if you think losing you license and paying a big fine is rough, it doesn't compare to what could happen to you if you don't slow your butt down.

I don't know where you're from, but around here if you fess up the judges usually let you off relatively easy. My ex boyfriend was going 90 in a 55, but the judge only made him pay a small fine and didn't put any points on his license.

My lawyer has ALWAYS cost less than the ticket.

Wear medium gray pants....20 seconds after the judge starts reading your case out loud, start peeing your pants...works every time :)
