Best way to ship?

As some of you know, I'm moving to VA. I checked U-Haul and it's $4,000 to go one way from here to VA. :Q So....I'm not going to do that. I don't have any furniture that I'm taking. I went out yesterday and bought boxes. I have sizes 16x16x16 and 18x18x18. I checked on ups.com and usps.com and it's around $32.00 to send each box that way. 🙁 Do you know of anything cheaper?

Just know that if you ship via FedEx or UPS, they will likely get damaged in some way. So hopefully nothing in those boxes is fragile/valuable.

The only time I've made a big move I got reimbursed by the company hiring me. From VA to NY it was about $1000 to move a bedroom's worth of furniture.

that's ridiculous did you try the other truck rental places, That is a heck of a move I guess since you are in CA. on another slant, I've lived in VA my whole life, grew up in lynchburg, went to college in blacksburg, now I'm in Richmond, I think I need to move to a different state before I die.

Some of my stuff is fragile. Along with clothes and the usual stuff, I'm going to be shipping some china and crystal stuff. For those boxes, which service should I use? 😕

EDIT:

I tried Penske too. It was about $1,500. 🙁

You aren't driving at all???

If you are put all the valuable/fragile stuff in your car and ship everything else like clothes.

After I found out how much U-Haul and Penske are...no, I'm not driving. My car caught on fire in January and I'm going to buy a car in VA, so I don't have a car to take with me. If I was going to drive a truck out there, that would have been cool, but it's too 'spensive.
