Best way to ship a subwoofer?

I have a Klipsh Synergy Sub-12 that I sold for $150 to a friend of mine. It's brand New in the box. Do I need to double box it or anything, or is the retail packaging enough? I've shipped printers, computers etc in the box they were purchased in with no problems.

ANyone have experience shipping subwoofers?

I just looked at amazon's site. looks like they ship it in original manufacturer's packaging. if it's good enough for amazon, it's good enough for me 🙂

Depends on how much you want to take the chance. (insurance etc.). I prefer double boxing mostly because through DHL, UPS; the outer box is always dinged up with holes and the interior styrofoam panels exposed in some locations. The inner box is perfect though (which is most important). I also like the added layer of styrofoam as shock absorbing interface when the UPS/DHL people throw the subwoofer from the truck onto the ground, or it falls off the conveyor belt etc.

Do note, that since you sold for 150$, double boxing may not be economical anymore. On a 1500$ subwoofer, it is more easily justified.

I wouldn't worry about double boxing it, but I would get insurance in case you get a weak delivery guy. When I had my sub delivered the delivery person was this hot girl. I just knew she was going to drop my baby, but she handled it like a pro. Your buddy might not be as lucky.
