Schools winding down in a month I need to ship a bunch of books back home. Is USPS media mail the cheapest route? anyone have any experience in this department?

Orgin and destination?

How much weigh and size we are talking here. USPS Media Mail will be a bitch...

I'd really recommend Fedex Ground

I shipped a box of books and cds from OH to CA. The box weighed about 20lbs. USPS Media Mail with DC was around $10 and took about 6 days. I think FedEx Ground takes a couple days less but was about $20.

Thats not bad OH > CA is pretty much less populated land

Now if I were to ship from Boston > CA. The package would go through many stops in the Northeast before getting to CA

Media Mail is routed the worse. Sometimes its okay. The package just basically hops on any truck that points west. I heard another reason that it's so slow because the trucks need to fill up first. Just as like sending an international package by "boat"... it has to fill up first.

Hmm well that analogy wouldn't really work.... nor does the reason

Then just Media Mail it. Be sure to get DC. Insurance too, if you're up to it.

Just remember to tape it securely :p I always try to use USPS Labels for this.

Media Mail is risky business if you know what i mean ;)
