So I need to transmit a 70mb file to a single person over the internet by some means. It needs to be secure and only downloadable by a single individual. What's the best way to do this?

Rar it with a password and then upload it to any of those filesharing sites with another password.

PGP/GPG, or S-MIME.

Or zip it up with password protection, upload it to FTP with an obscure path with .htaccess only allowing your friend's IP address to access the path.

Or encrypt it with blowfish and burn it to a CD and ship it via registered parcel.

Or host a jabber server and setup SSL communications, and send it over chat.

There are literally hundreds of combinations of passwording/encryption/access-limiting/obfuscation you can do...

Don't forget that you need to put it inside a locked briefcase, handcuffed to yourself.

Or save it to a thumbdrive, wrap it in several condoms tied off, and insert i... oh wait, his friend is probably not in prison. Nevermind.

If you really want it secure, encrypt it using a hash and a key which you get from random.org....so something like this:

aE5Ad6rxs2KM0dufcswKnEJBvab0kSWVseCzSzKT2ul5aP93tYy4HV0SIuBQJLOkcit1M3XO5xYB8A7B
WttA2CmAFDjeauRbq1DRXQsZE2WGCIIgtSKDxK7DQkmc4nYQAkInbck9g9FKTLhkVwglwVtAlSUUtDVW

OGfeliBJbGig3yg7IjZmPcburM63ZNOyULkaltYgXMjuy5OIlVi00oE8Vp8ICrLAWqo8kSHI6eezaFfX

Just copy and paste when you need to put the hash/key in.

Once you're done, just copy something else so you don't have that in your clipboard anymore. Better yet, send, then power off your computer and remove the RAM for a day.

Then it's totally secure.

ezcrypt it to a selfextracting .exe that is also compressed using WINRAR

Then encrypt the RAR file with PGP and then zip it up in a password protected ZIP file, run it through blowfish, change the extension to .TIF and put it in a TAR file.
