Best way to run ethernet cable upstairs?

I need to run an ethernet cable from my bedroom upstairs to my router and other computer downstairs. My bedroom is directly above the other computer. What would be the best way to do this? Do I use a wall outlet thingy, and if so how do I hook it up? Or do I just get a long enough cord and run it through the wall directly to my upstairs computer? Will using the wall outlet slow my network and internet connection down? Thanks

make a hole on the side of your roof in the room somewhere and put the metal enclosure around it...(thats the cheap way) or you can get someone who works in construction to route it throu the power outlet to the outlet in the other room.
