Best way to run DDR 500 on NF4

? DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D
? G.Skills PC4000 2x1GB (3-4-4-8 @ DDR 500)

What's the best way to make the ram run at DDR 500?

Set HT Link to 4x
Set FSB/HTT to 250
Lower multiplier so 250 times (multiplier) = clock speed you want (stock if thats what you getting to)

It would be pretty easy if you had a Asus booard: just set it in BIOS!

No, DFI is wayyy better for OCing. Smply set the LDT to 4x, put the FSB at 250, like the above said.

45 reboots later... nothin doin...

And, the Clear CMOS jumper is HORRIBLE on this board.

You'd think a psychotically popular overclockers board wouldn't
put the Clear CMOS jumper under the back end of a 7800 GT.
Then again, they put the chipset and a fan there too... nice.

What is the secret magick combination of bios settings I will need
to run this DDR500 at DDR500? I have tried the recommended
timings and worse. I managed to almost boot Windows once, but
mostly can not even post.

If you load the 702-BTA or whatever its called BIOS from dfi-street.com, it has the 250 mem option built in.

I flashed to 704-2BTA and there is a "250" option,
but that is not what it seems. Enabling that and all
the timings from the techpowerup review and I get
CPU-Z reporting my ram running at 133Mhz, CPU/17.

However, during POST, it said DDR 500 3-4-4-8 1T.
And, this set of options is the only way I can get the
post to say DDR 500...

I dunno, maybe cpu-z is messed up.

Now it is saying my ram is running @ 160Mhz (CPU/14).

I *think* I am running at DDR 500 (250Mhz) (CPU/9).

What's a decent way to determine the truth?

Well, BF2 is stuttering and just crashed.
So, I must have accomplished something.

Now back to PC3200 that work just fine.

He was referring to tvdang7's post above his and his 3200+ at 2.65ghrtz at 2.575 volts which, of course, is not possible. He must have meant 1.575 in his sig.

I upped my ram and cpu voltage slightly because I was damn tired
of using pliers to painfully clear cmos when the board wouldn't post.

Need more info, what are your CPU volts?, what's your chipset volts? What's your maximum CPU overclock running a divider? Whats your max HTT with a lower CPU multi like 7, and the 100/DDR200 memory divider.

I would try bumping up the CPU volts, and the chipset volts. My 3700+ will run 250x11=2750 with 1.525v. You should up the chipset volts to 1.6v or 1.7v, and leave all the ram settings at default. Or you can drop the CPU multi to 10x250=2500 it should handle that at stock CPU volts, but still up the chipset volts.

10x250, +.1 volt on dram (2.7), +.05 volt on cpu (1.45v)

ClockGen reports 1.4v for CPU though I set 1.45v in bios.
And SmartGuardian reports similarly confusing 2.6v on dram.

I didn't touch the chipset. Everything was about 50° C after
6.5 hours of Prime95. I have stock cooling, with better stuff
in boxes waiting to be installed.

I may bring the volts down, but I was fed up and it seemed
to work wonders, though I admit I was shooting in the dark.

I am wary of messing with the chipset. It's already hot and bothered.

The machine is in an Antec P180 with a Seasonic S12 430w PSU.

Apparently, this PSU is aggressively unsupported by DFI.
I may get an S12 500w to replace it if it becomes a problem.

However, everything seems to be running well now...
