Best way to rip a DVD?

What is the best way to rip video off a DVD and convert it to avi?

DVDcryptor was a great DVD ripping app, but you can no longer get it. Therefore, DVDFab is probably the next best one.

For converting to AVI, use AutoGK, or Dr DIVX. AutoGK has stopped development, but is still good with XVid, or with DivX5. For DivX 6, use Dr. DivX, or AVI.Net.

i use anydvd, or dvd43 + CloneDVD2. its definately the easiest and least complicated way. dvdfab is just annoying imo.

VirtualDub mod is fine to me, just load files and save as avi with any encoding u want.

I use DVD Decrypter and Intervideo DVD Copy 4. I've tried many encoding programs before and DVD Copy was the only one that worked properly. It's got a lot of great options too.
