Best way to remove glue and residue after removing wallpaper?

The wallpaper remover gel that you used to get off the wallpaper in the first place. Let it sit for a bit. Then use warm soapy water and a sponge and it comes right off.

I always used Goo-Gone for things like that. Unfortunately I don't think it comes in industrial sizes.

Goo-Gone isn't for wallpaper, it is for peroleum based sticky residue from "Stickers" and the like.
Wallpaper paste is water based, some of it is Wheat paste, while there are some synthetics out there also.
There is a product, I think it's brand name is ZIF Wallpaper Stripper. Directions are on the bottle. Available at most paint and/ or wallpaper stores.

My wife just uses dish detergent and very warm water, spray it down, let it set but do not let it dry. You can periodically check it to see when it comes loose.
Usually, she wets it a couple of times, scrapes off what will come off, then reapplies the soapy water. (If it is very thick, you may need to re-apply and take it off a little at a time)

Yeah, that's the stuff.
It is DIF rather than ZIF.

And that "Papertiger" isn't really necessary unless you have VINYL wallpaper that won't soak up water. (All those little spots it puts on the wall are a B**ch to paint without having to practically spackle every inch of the room, they are fine, though, if you are re-papering.)
