I want to back up my system (including OS) using Ghost, and then install onto a new SATA drive.

What do I need to do or watch out for so this works.
I currently don't have any SATA drives on the system.

You will need to have SATA drivers IN the OS before you back up the image. I would enable the sata controller and install drivers . then try the backup.

Also on my gigabyte i could not create a backup or restore successfully on to the sata drive eith ghost. I used Drive image 2002 without a hitch though.

Thanks.
What version of Ghost did you try? I don't have Drive Image.

Ghost2003 would not boot my Abit IC7-Max3 either. In fact, I had quite a scare... After several hours of install/patch/config I had my system all setup perfect and wanted to dump an image of it. I used Ghost2003 to do it and on restart I got a blank screen. I had to boot it with a regular ghost boot floppy, change to the "virtual HD ("C")", and go thru the Ghost directory until I found the script it was trying to run. I looked at the script and at the end of the script was a line that called "ghwrap.exe". I ran that and it eliminated the virtual drive on bootup so my system would boot normal. Scared the crap out of me though! ;) :Q
