bolt it down!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats probably yer best bet. Make it hard to steal.

I am telling you...this is a bad idea...I did car audio for 3 years...doing things like this just ensures your car will be trashed

You also have a point there.. What really pissed me off was that I got all of my old parts from ebay so, while it cost me about a grand (HU, amp, subs), I didn't get one penny back from insurance.. Maybe I will make it easy for them but buy everything locally.. I didn't know bolting would cause additional damage... Hmmm

dont put a sub in your car genius.
and if you have one, dont go blasting it, because guess what? people hear it and realize that you have xxx dollars in your trunk.
stock stereos are fine.

I had my subs stolen even though they were bolted down. The only way my insurance would cover the subs was if they were bolted down so I was glad I did it. If you have full coverage insurance they will cover damages to your car as well if the theives break your car while stealing your subs.

To you, stock stereos are fine.. Actually, some of them are excellent. Guess what though, the stock radio in a hyundai elantra will make your ears bleed..

Tell the crew to scuttle the sub instead of letting it fall into enemy hands. If you're lucky some will go down with it and you won't have to pay them thier last paycheck.

When you are bolting it down, try using some square head screws. You'd be amazed how many dumba$$es won't be able to get it out.

Ok, here are few tips to GREATLY reduce your chances of your sub, amp and deck being stolen:

1. DON'T have a big ass ALPINE (or whatever stereo you have) sticker plastered on the top of your front windshield! That is like saying, "hey, I have some expensive sh!t in my car. Wait 'til I park and you can have it all....FOR FREE."

2. Everything except for the deck should be hidden from view if someone were to look inside your car. The deck NEEDS to have a detachable face (and yes, you need to take the face off when you leave your car parked) or a face that flips around.

3. And last but not least, DON'T HAVE YOUR STEREO BOOMING IN YOUR AREA! If you are leaving home, turn your radio up AFTER you get out of your neighborhood, and before you get where you are going turn the radio down well before you get to where you are going to park.

Lesson: Theives aren't going to break into a car for a stereo if they don't know one is in the car in the first place.

As for me, I take it a step further. I have a kill switch that I turn off and on by remote. The connection is under the hood and the hood is a bitch to get open. I also have an alarm (which also has another kill switch) that pages me when it goes off. If I get paged and I look out the window and some punk is stealing my car...BAM! He gets sniped! [UT voice] HEADSHOT![/UT voice] 😉

Lesson: Don't steal my sh*t!
