Best way to leave a job?

I found a new job which is almost certainly going to pay ALOT more than my current job. I like my current workplace a lot, so I want to let them know that I appreciate the opportunity to work there.

I feel like I should personally talk to my manager and the GM...but I was also thinking that I could better express myself with a letter instead of fumbling through the words. What is the best way to go about this without making it into a large production (calling both managers into a room and breaking the news, etc...)

Thanks

This is what I'd suggest, something not too formal and pick up the tab. This is a great way to leave on good terms while the managers feel like you really appreciated them.

Letters are very informal and show lack of character if you cannot tell someone to their face how you feel about them.

just my 0.02.
