Best way to learn 3D studio max?

It's such a cool program, but intimidating because of it's complexity, I tried searching for beginner tutorials online but I didn't find any good sites, mostly models and tutorials for more advanced users. Anyone know of a good site, or (less prefered) a good book to start off with?

The 3dsmax r3 bible is pretty good.

best way is a book i think. i got a couple and i think 3D Studio max "In Depth" is one of the better ones.

i tried playing with it back in high school. was able to teach myself basic stuff from trial and error. maybe you should try an easier program to get a good idea of how things work. if i'm not mistaken, most animation program spawn from the same basic concept. truespace3D is pretty simple.
