Best way to install win xp

Can some one give me a detailed run down of the best way to install win xp pro. I keep having issues....

Driver wise. Like my X1900 is choppy on games 3 years old...

1. Install Windows
2. Install SP2 (if it is not already installed)
3. Install chipset drivers
4. Install video card drivers
5. Install sound drivers and other drivers needed
6. Install all critical updates for Windows
7. Install your applications, make sure they are up-to-date
8. Configure XP to your liking.
9. Backup using Acronis True Image

Use nLite, integrate SP2, your drivers,
configure options if you like,
if you know what your doing you can remove all unneeded drivers(if you get all of your drivers in there should be no need to keep any),
Windows components(more risky, but if you choose the ones that you understand nothing really can go wrong, leave Iexplore, Out of the Box Experience, probably can remove all additional languages and keyboard mappings if you dont use them).
Install.
Install applications and any driver utilities that don't autoinstall with the drivers(like ATI CCC, Creative's control applications, etc...).
Download critical updates, Install basic applications(wouldnt do "everything").
Configure XP.
Image if you like.

nLite

BTW to integrate your drivers just download all of them, extract them if posible(using winrar or 7zip or similair right click on the .exe and hit extract) I know ATI's drivers have to be extracted now, they will be in ATI\Support\6.3.... etc... Put them all in a drivers folder and point nLite's multiple driver option at that folder 🙂... btw you need to copy all the files off of the CD to your harddrive and I recommend putting your drivers folder inside of that.

got to love nlite man, its almost like sex...mmm scratch that. make sure u disable unneeded services, (be careful with those) and uncheck a lot of the boxes under system/advanced/performance/visual effects, i think u can do most of that in nlite. also always check your device manager to make sure eveything is installed correctly.
