Best way to install vista?

Right now I am considering the way to install windows vista for testing purpose to see is it worth overwriting my xp install. I have current 3 hdd 2 x 120 gig and 1 x 160 gig. One of the 120 gig is my xp drive the other 2 are storage drive. Shoudl I set up a partition space within a my drive and dual boot vista to see how is it? Or put all my media file in the 160 gig and format the 2nd 120 drive and try out vista on it?
 
Well, I need a back up plan to wipe vista if it is not up to my standard, and I want to mininize the causalty if possible.
