I was wondering if anyone could outline the steps to best install new drivers. Im trying to install the detonator 21.83 drivers. I plan do the following:

1) go to controll panel, display adapters, remove current display adapter (ELAS 721)
*dont reboot*
2) go to add/remove programs, remove the ELSA windows/dos display drivers.
*reboot*
3) computer finds new hardware, let it install the standard VGA adapter drivers
*reboot*
4) run the self-installer that are the 21.83 drivers downloaded from the Nvidia site.
*reboot*
5) all runs smoothly and as planned.

This correct? =)

That's a long step process and clean way to do. sounds good to me.

But the way I do it is little different and also works cleanly.. and no problem in video drivers. I get the performance as exactly I expect.. Here's what I do:

Go to display property, go to "adapter" tab and choose "standard VGA" and reboot.

Then install any of the updated vid driver. I tried Det. 6.18 to 21.83 to 22.80 and worked as it suppose to. I can also use the same method to go back to the 6.18 since it's the fastest in overall D3D and OGL games i have. =)
