Right now I've got my Advent 20" TV hooked straight up to the cable line so all my sound goes through the TV speakers and it sounds terrible. There is no audio out on the TV, so I can't hook it up to my stereo system (a decent Sharp 5 speaker stereo system...for me anyway) without hooking the cable line up through the VCR.
Hooking it up through the VCR allows the video signal to go to the TV, while having the audio signal go from the VCR to the stereo system.
In order for me to watch TV I need 3 remotes. One to turn on the TV, one to change channels through the VCR, and the other to control the sound of the stereo system.
I've tried a couple Universal Remotes but my TV (Advent), VCR (Phillips), and Stereo (Sharp) won't all work on one remote. Usually I don't have a code for the Advent TV or the Sharp Stereo, so the remote won't work.
My question is, is there any other way of hooking this all up? Can I get an audio/video reciever that will allow a cable tv signal to be split into audio/video so I can have decent TV audio on my stereo speakers without a billion remotes?
