the diameter was about 1mm too small. the banana plug is shaped by 4 individual thin metal sheet pieces that connect at the top - just a quick tap of a hammer on the top made it an oval shape and then i pressed it with my fingers to get it right to the ~4mm range.
they came in 3 red, 3 black.
