Best way to go from a parallel port printer to a computer w/out a parallel connection?

If you have USB 2.0 do not get a USB 1 device to convert USB to Parallel. I saw complaints about some of these devices not working.

What type of printer do you have? Is it very expensive?

Maybe the printer manufacturer sells something that will work????

Might be easier to just buy a USB Printer. My new printer uses both USB and Parallel. Actually it is USB Based and has a built in Parallel to USB Converter.

It's a laserjet 4m

other option is to just get an expansion card w/ a parallel connection on it.

PCI parrallel port cards usually work okay.

I'd probably go that route instead of USB unless you can find a parrallel to usb2 adapter.

A lazerjet 4m should have a jet direct card built in so you can just do ethernet.
