Best way to get to Charlottesville Virginia from Philly ?

Well I've decided to visit my girlfriend over the weekend but the problem is that I'm in Pennsylvania and shes in Virginia.

I plugged everything into google maps, and everything seems pretty linear and legit.

However, I'm ganne be leaving every Friday, at around 4 oclock. Am I going to run into DC traffic ? Is there any alternate routes that I can take instead of the google maps one, or is that one the best ?

Yeah, if I'm going anywhere south from where I'm at in Philly I take 95.

One of my friends is actually from Charlottesville VA (we're here in Philly), but he's out of town for Rosh Hashanah. I'll post what he says when he gets back later today.

I'm local to where you are going, and fly out of the Charlottesville-Albermarle airport pretty often.

You can take a direct flight from philly to CVille, if you don't mind paying a little more than gas would cost.

I take it you aren't adverse to higher traffic, but if it bugs you anyway I-70 takes a little longer but is more peaceful.

Of course by the time you get to DC traffic won't be the worst in the world, though the past few weekends I drove through it still was a little busy until 8~ish.
