Best way to get this done?

I have about 100 vhs videos and was wondering what you guys think would be the best way to preserve the footage. Most are ok for now but some are starting to lose quality. This is various footage that isnt available commercially and was aired once or twice and probably wont again. With this much I know most options aren't going to be cheap but would like something that isnt going to cost a fortune. Should i invest in a dvd burner and go that route ? If so, what format would you suggest using ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Depends on what quality you want to archive it with.
You can vidcap it, encode with MPEG/DivX and put it all on CDR.

You could also do it with DVD, but if they're already poor quality videos seems a waste IMO.
But then again you could do a more professional job if you want to go into making menus and everything.

Either way you'd need a video capture card.

The most expensive but easiest way would be to dump them all off at a place that will do it for you.

Um, it's called VIDEO CAPTURE. You record the video onto the pc by feeding the video stream from the VCR.

Or you can buy a Panasonic DVD burner for your sterio, and you can run it through your amp so you just pop the tape in the VHS player, put a DVD in the burner, hit record and there it is.

Much quicker...and you can also use it to record off of the TV onto a DVD, or from any other type of media(you can't do it from DVD to DVDR, though...unless you have some kind of mod. )
