New shoes? Bad idea fot lots of walking.

But wearing them too loose will give you blisters faster as the shoe rubs against yor skin and irritates it. Thicker socks might help.

Those patches actually say, don't pop the blisters if you can avoid it. And they really help a lot, you can also use them before you actually get a blister.

I thought they might feel better around my arch, my arch falls quite a bit when i step down, and all the charts show wide shoes would fit better.

When i first got them, i thought they felt too loose, but after a few days it didnt feel like it anymore...

I would row and get blisters alot. I'd usually squash them so they popped but i wouldn't tear the skin off right away. After a day or so the skin would harden up under the blister and gradually the skin would fall off and wouldn't hurt.

this one time i had a blister about the size of a quarter on my big toe. I popped it and squeezed the fluid out and some squirted in my eye :( it was so nasty.

As painful as blister's can be, You should really just let them take their course. Blisters are there to protect you from infection. As you are well aware, under that blister is a raw, sore, painful wound that is extremely vulnerable to infection. So leave it alone.

Probably a lot. Stops a lot of the rubbing.

And don't pop blisters.

Wearing two pairs of socks works wonders. The inner sock should be thinner than the outer. In basic training they made us do this because we had brand new combat boots and we marched everywhere. We were also severely punished if we popped blisters. You don't want an open sore like that on your foot if you are going to be walking so much. Let it run it's course.

i say pop them, but not so easily as just puncturing it..

-rub the infected area with rubbing alcohol and let it air dry
-sterilize a needle by holding it over a flame
-poke a hole in an area near the end of the blister
-let the fluid come out
-use antibiotics around the infected area, especially the part you opened the skin

Wearing more than 1 pair of socks at a time feels really awkward for me.

Same here. It was usually bad for the first couple weeks each season and then my hands get used to the abuse. I would always pop them after practice and by the next day the skin would have stuck back and hardened.

It's always disgusting when there's blood on the oar handle.

Try using really thin polyester socks for the inner sock. Wicking the moisture away from the skin is important.
