Best way to get rid of an old sofa?

old tenant left it. his new wife doesn't want it.

it's 7' long and in decent shape.

How do I get rid of it? (Northern VA)

leave it outside by your curb, it will be gone within an hour or so.

dead serious too.

I've taken a sawzall to a few couches so they'd fit in the dumpster.

craigslist... look for listings that sell cheap mattresses. Those are usually refurbished mattresses. Ask them if they can pick up yours..?

If it's usable, the options above will work. If it's trash and this is a house with its own trash pickup service, many (most?) trash services give you a certain number of large item pickup's per year.

Or, you can put it on the curb then report it as abandoned and the city trash will pick it up. Apartment managers have to deal with this issue all the time.

Mom and I have been doing spring cleaning. We send stuff to Habitat For Humanity each weekend. Theres also charity groups that will come to your house and pick stuff up with their own muscles. I think Wounded Warrior or Purple Hearts will do it.
