Best way to get pine sap out of hair?

So I was putting through the trails and tapped a pine tree and some pine cones starting a fellin' like I was a felon. Guess that's what I get for not putting my helmet on!

Anyways I have this sticky ass pine sap in my hair. It's just plain nasty and my fingers get sticky just from touching my hair. :| This stuff sticks better than glue! :Q

I don't think shampoo is going to work. My brother said to use goo gone. Yeah right now I know why his hair looks so bad. :p

Alcohol will help. It's worked for me when I have it on my hands. Not sure about hair though.

you could try nair, instead...

alcohol, goo gone probably really would work, so would gasoline, i expect, maybe WD-40....all sorts of fun stuff to try! :p

Lisa: No, I've got gum in my hair.
Marge: Oh, we've tried everything: olive oil, lemon juice, tartar
sauce, chocolate syrup, gravy, bacon fat, hummus and baba
ganoush.
Lisa: My scalp hurts from horsefly bites.
Ned: Why don't you freeze it with an ice cube, and hit it with a
hammer? Works for me when I get bubbly-gum in the old push-
broom.

Are you sure that is pine sap and your brother isn't playing a trick on you?

Time... It would be best to just wait it out. You might end up screwing up your hair if you put a bunch of stuff on it.

why, it will prob look like a dingleberry by the time that it can be taken out.

try mineral spirit, it's milder.

It should be gone after a week of regular showers/shampoos. I've gotten a little bit of sap in my hair before, and tons on my hands. I can't get it off using mechanics soaps or anything. I just deal with it until it's gone.

This is why we need an in thread poll capability;

1) Yeah, it was pine sap. :D

2) Carefully describe how it happened so I can adjust my dream tonight.

I bumped into one a few weeks ago and had this happen, I used shampoo/conditioner , rinsed, repeated about 5 times and brushed in between. Still didn't feel completely gone but I was drunk and tired so I went to bed.

Remembered the next day and the hair felt fine.

So Shampoo + conditioner and a little time.

This.

Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) will dissolve pine sap. I dunno if it would have side effects on hair, but I use it when there is sap on my clothes or myself.

I use regular butter to get pitch out of my dog's fur. He gets into it all the time.

I've used gasoline for bubble gum removal from my hair.

Didn't smell the best but worked just fine for a quick fix.
