Tomorrow I'm buying items for a couple of care packages for our soldiers--plan to have it mailed by Thursday (at the latest). One for female hygiene, male hygiene, and two for snacks and magazines (I'm from WI so one box of snacks is never enough--that's why we are so jolly).
Here's the link: Any Soldier
The site tells you absolutely everything you need to know: how to find a soldier (I found a group from WI), ideas of what to ship (once you find a soldier they post what they need/want), how to ship it (ALWAYS seperate packages for food and hygiene and how to protect it), and they give example care packages where you get more ideas.
My Packages will be:
Female hygiene: hand lotion, bath gel, body gel, hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, toothpaste and brushes, deorderant, face wash, shaving cream, razors, sunblock, Q-tips, etc. I bought most of this gels and lotions at Bath and Body Works--was doing other Christmas shopping (so they wont be getting the cheap crap)
Male hygiene: hand sanitizer, shampoo, conditioner, axe body wash, lip balm, toothpaste and brushes, deorderant, face wash, shaving gel, aftershave gel, sunblock, razors, Q-tips, etc.
Snacks: Skittles, Gum, Combos, Beef Jerky, Granola Bars, Microwaveable popcorn, slim jims, chex mix, nuts (many varieties), oreos, raisens, koolaid mix, etc.
Magazines: Sports Illistrated, ESPN, People, Cosmo, Glamour, FHM
Getting a flat rate box and filling it with snacks and you're only looking at $20-30 shipped and you'll make someone's day. Even eaiser treatanysoldier.com and get the Cookies Galore for $26.25 total So I hope at least one more person does this; then this thread will be worth it.
Deadline for shipping flat rate boxes is Dec 11 for it to arrive by Christmas.
Flat Rate Boxes: You can get flat rate boxes from the USPS for $8.10 and ship as much as the box holds--great for packing heavy items like liquids (shampoo, conditioner, etc.) or heavy snacks (nuts, hard candy, etc.).
NO POLITICS ALLOWED IN THIS THREAD.
