Ok getting that nice fancy new 1080p HDTV and now have to figure out who to get the best HD signals to it.

Any thoughts? Anyone else do the research?

So far Dishnetwork seems to offer the most HD channels, 27, and a free HD DVR.
Cable seems worst by far, 10 channel, most of which I can get with a $50 attena on my porch.

Also, looks like Blu-ray is going to win, any thoughts on this?

I have comcast digital HD and am not very impressed with it. The HD quality is alright but the selection is mediocre at best. I think in the future cable will pull through, but for now dish is the winner

blu-ray will be the winner in the long run IMO

Best way to get HDTV channels is OTA (over the air), but obviously a lot of HDTV stuff in on cable. You can only get local channels OTA.

DirecTV has good HDTV channels. According to DTV's commercials, they will have a lot more HD channels soon. DTV seems to like about things a lot though. DirecTV and Dish Network are close enough to a toss up choice, depends on what packages/prices you like.

Based on what I've read, quality of satellite HDTV channels is currently pretty bad. However I think DirecTV recently launched a new satellite and are planning to (or already have?) switched over to MPEG-4 compression, which should mean more HDTV channels and higher quality.

Check with a local sat dealer. One I spoke to 6 weeks ago mentioned that the new sat launch will cover both DirectTV and Dish Network.
