Best way to get from NYC to Pittsburgh...

Looking to leave on the 29th or 30th but first week of January is also an option. Two adults, one-way.

Amtrak wants $108 and the ride takes nine hours... Would it be better/cheaper to take the bus? Is it significantly more to take a plane?

Any advice would be appreciated.

According to Cheap Tickets, it would cost you a total of $569 via United Airlines to leave on December 29th via a one-way trip to Pittsburgh.

Keep in mind that the airline prices are higher because you are buying them on short notice.

My guess is that a bus would be much cheaper. Probably less than $70 for each of you. However, the bus would take lots of stops and it could take you 12+ hours to get to Pittsburgh.
