So I'm taking the kiddos to Six Flags in 2 weeks. What are the best ways to get the cheapest tickets these days? Is it literally the back of a coke can or the stupid "everyone pays kids prices" coupons that are a dime a dozen? I'm hoping some of you AT'ers can provide some tips so I don't blow $300 before I even get in the door. D: Anyone?

If you are a AAA member or know someone that is. They offer discounted tickets as well as discounted parking 13 bucks instead of 15.

Ok, I didn't think of that. Now we're getting somewhere. We are, but is it as much of a discount as the coke can, etc...

Know anyone nearby in the military (or civil service), that has access to MWR (military welfare & recreation) ticket sales? They usually get 1/2 price tickets to theme parks that are located nearby.

I know that I can go there, since I work on base here, and get 1/2 price tickets to Six Flags over Texas.

There were MWR discount tickets for 6 Flags New England. I'm not sure what kind of discount. Back when I went on them my parents handled everything (~7 years ago).

6 Flags also sometimes has promotional days for certain professions and such, but I think the unions organize those. I remember one time they had a Teamsters day that I went to.

Six Flags New England (ex Riverside Park) isn't all that great (I live less than a 1/2 hr away). I actually had more fun at Lake Compounce in Bristol CT last year w/ the family. Pretty much the same rides, but started at almost 1/2 the cost. Plus they have the Rotor :p

Sometimes places like credit unions offer discount tickets to their members. Just got our son & his girlfriend a pair of tickets to the former 6 Flags Darien Lake (now owned by someone else.) 5 years ago, the cheapest way to go to any 6-Flags park was to go to Darien Lake and get a season pass. ($160 for a family, or even less if you had discounts.) That allowed you to go to any other 6 Flags park for free.

Buy everything online at sixflags.com

It's cheaper than bringing can of coke. You also get discounts in parking. I think they even have food voucher for sale.

Amusement park industries are having a terrible terrible time in the last half decade. Remember the old days when season pass was like hundreds of dollars? Now it's worth 2x visit (you break even on second visit) + free bring-a-friend + free food + vip access.

3. Enjoy 20 mins at First Aid station with free gatorade
4. They give you a free 'come again' voucher
