Best way to get car insurance price down?

I am looking to buy a 2005 Subaru WRX STi. I am 22 years old and I have had 2 tickets over the last 18 months.

I am looking to pay cash for the car. However, I need my car insurance payments to be under $200/month. That is going to kill me if its like 300/month just for car insurance. I live in chicago suburbs.

I am trying to think of ways to manipulate the prices.......IE...have my old 1996 Saturn SC2 as my primary vehicle and list the STi as my secondary seasonal vehicle? Or put the title under my moms name? Just something to bring the monthly insurance rate down!

Any sites that can give like 10 quotes at once are greatly appreciated. Or if you know a good insurance comapny that gives really low prices let me know as well!!!

Thanks.

Not any time soon. Maybe it'll drop when you turn 25. Changing insurance company might help a little. But those 2 ticket will definitely raise an eye brow.

Your a 22 year old male with two speeding tickets in 18 months and you are looking for cheap insurance on a sports car?!? Good luck in finding that. Putting the title under your mom's name and having her get insurance for it would make it cheaper. It is also illegal, but that is your business.

Try progressive's website for price quotes. btw, about how much is your current insurance a month?

Flame away morons. They were moving violations but they weren't speeding tickets genius. I know insurance companies can play with the numbers just like car dealerships can. They can add special discounts and whatnot.

well the attitude of some, not SKORPI0, is that I should just give up and stop looking for cheap insurance. Like there is no point, I know there are certain ways they can change the numbers but I wish I had to a good agency to go through.

Yes it is true that they can add special discounts as I have a discount for "good grades" in highschool but since we don't know your insurance provider, why not ask them yourselves?

My advice, just put the car insurance in your mothers name till you become 25. Not sure of the legalities there. Insurance for your age bracket is a killer, > $200.

I have a niece who uses me as insurance, car is under my name. If under her name she'll end up paying $186/month. With me $65/month. BTW, she totaled a 6 month old car @ 18 and has speeding tickets before she turned 21. :frown:

Sure they can work with the numbers, but thier not gonna for a 22 year old with 2 tickets, or moving violations or whatever you have.

Wait till you turn 25, and dont get in any accidents or tickets. Thats the best way to go for cheap insurance.

Does anyone think he should be getting this car if he worried about a $100 in his car insurance? Because, you know what, you may be able to swing a low rate when you sign up, but once it is renewal time they can jack them up even if you have no claims!
