I haven't done this in a while but...
I did used the program built in to EasyCD at the time. It would record a wav file and then detect silence and automatically cut the tracks. I think the current burning software packages still have features similar to this. I will check my nero tonight. Warning: Don't try this method with something like Pink Floyd "The Wall." You will get more tracks than you can shake a stick at.
Otherwise, you could get a free audio editor like audacity and cut the tracks yourself.
Personally, I use a simple stereo DJ-type tape deck that I got from the Shack years ago plugged in to my line-in.
