question is this.... what is the best way to get my new promise ata66 controller card to work with my new quanum 30 gig ata66 drive? I know I have to reformat, but will the system recognize the controller card when I plug it in and just install from there? or do I have to hook the hard drive to the regular ide first, then load my operating system and then connect the drive to the controlloer card??
thanks!!!!!1

Ive done it both ways..if you set up to boot to SCSI it will detect your controller..then to boot disk..fdisk and format..install windows..it will be running in compatibility mode..then after installing windows, install your controller card drivers....or you can use the ata33 IDE, install windows, then the controller card drivers, then swap to the controller card and setup bios to boot to SCSI after the swap.
