Best way to get 2GB

I'm building an A64/939 system with 2GB of RAM and I've read that the A64 memory controller doesn't support DDR400 operation with more than 1 double-sided DIMM in a single channel so I'm wondering what's the fastest way to use 2GB of ram - 4x512mb single sided? I would prefer to leave two slots free for the future if it's possible. Are all the current 1GB modules double sided? Is there a way to tell from the memory specs whether it's double sided or not?

Also, does a channel (or the whole system) run at the timings of the slowest DIMM you have? Does anyone have a link to some info about this kind of stuff since I can't find anything useful on AMD's website?

Thanks for the link, at least now I know double sided will run dual channel:) I read that single sided modules tend to overclock better and run at 1T with a higher memory clock - anyone have any experience with that? If that's the case I would still try to go for single-sided 512s despite it using all four slots.
