Best way to deal with flys???

Whats the best way to keep flys from entering the house? Every now and then Ill get one or two in the door while its open and they annoy me to no ends. Do bug zappers work or is there a better solution?
 
My personal favorite is to turn off all the lights inside and turn on one big light outside. The next step is wait for 20 or so min till a large crowd of flies and other bugs appear. Next you arm your flamethrower or napalm launcher and go wild burning anything that flys. Replace the light and repeat every night until the number of bugs reduces to a comfortable amount.
