I'm going to move my files from a wd red 3tb to a Hitachi 3tb drive bit don't want to screw up the modified and created dates. This happened the last time I moved files and jsut copy /pasted them over.

Should I image the red hdd and restore to the Hitachi hdd?

Yes, or clone the drive. That does not change dates.

Direct clone is most likely the best way to handle this. The only time I wouldn't do a clone on a HD where I wanted files is if the HD was fragmented to hell, in that case, I would use a file copy utility that preserves dates.

Using Fastcopy now, working just fine thanks!

Scrapped the idea of cloning due to possible fragmentation of the files as mentioned above.
