Best way to convert DVD -> .avi?

pretty noob to this
i would like to convert a dvd into a .Avi file on my PC

so far.. i have the DVD decrypted onto my HDD with an 8gb Folder with a bunch of VIDEO_TS files. where do i go from here?

DVD Fab or Fairuse Wizard. Fairuse only will convert from .iso or straight from the DVD, but it may save you a step if you don't want to rip to VIDEO_TS every time.

handbrake as said earlier but misspelled
h.264 is the encoder of choice to fiddle with now..also included in handbrake

Handbrake is incredible (and better than FairUse IMO). Just be careful if you use AC3 for audio; I've been having a helluva time playing back the sound (AVC will only work in a beta).

StaxRip is great for converting .vob files into a single movie. It can encode in h.264, xvid, divx and can use avi, mp4 and mkv container formats.
