Obstacle course you are running and you have to get over a 6 foot wire fence.
Do you use the speed from running and jump into the fence and try to climb over or stop and climb the fence?

Running. You can get a better vault of it if you let a pit bull chase you to it.

no

Normal wire fence and the top is sligtly padded so you dont get hurt. Can't go around, can't cut the fence etc etc.

Now if this is a squad kind of thing, tear down a previous obstacle and use it as a scaling ladder ;) If combat conditions, blow it up.

Seriously it depends on weather or not your jump can reach the top. If you can reach the top with your hands after a good leap then you're out of luck as far as momentum is concerned. A quick way to get down is to lay your chest on the top of the fence and swing your legs over the side - an alternative to squatting on top and jumping off or riding it horsey style.

Last time I tried this, I ran and when I got to the fence I jumped into it , but my feet didnt get a grip on any of the fence holes to use my legs to push up. So I had to drop down and step into the fence, grab on to the top and pull up and over...

I never would have though to try to use the force of the internet to get over the fence

I've been meaning to re-read the Phule's Company books for a while...
